U-Turns: The Chicago Diner – IL
If Meatless Mondays aren’t your favorite day of the week already, they will be after you eat at The Chicago Diner. After more than 30 years of offering vegan versions of familiar favorites (now at two equally fabulous locations), The Chicago Diner is a real crowd pleaser and has earned the awards to prove it.
There is nothing missing on this decadent menu, so The Chicago Diner is a perfect place to introduce even your most skeptical friends to vegan food. In addition to vegan shakes and hot cocoa that will make you smile like a kid, The Chicago Diner offers an utterly incredible array of comfort foods that are equal parts flavorful and bold, fresh and indulgent. This is a diner that goes way beyond standard fare.
You’ll enjoy the house made and inspired sandwiches like the Buddha’s Karma Burger – with a perfectly balanced sweet to savory flavors: curried sweet potato-tofu patty, grilled pineapple, and a chimichurri sauce you’ll want to put on everything. You’ll also find entrees like the Truffle Mushroom Lentil Loaf, served with veggies and roasted potatoes; Veggie Flautas, and so much more. Be sure to order up a side of succulent ginger garlic greens or pesto veggies too.
Can’t get enough? Neither can we! Check out their bakery and catering options and get a copy of their latest cookbook. Yes! You can make that chimichurra sauce at home and put it on everything! For gluten free diners, there is a special menu, and GF prep may be requested, as well.
About U-Turns
A recent poll suggests there are more than 7 million vegetarians/vegans in the U.S., but it’s easy to feel isolated when you’re part of (roughly) 7% of the population. One report revealed that “a large majority of former vegetarians/vegans (63%) said that they disliked that their diet made them stick out from the crowd.” Whether you eat veg for health, environmental, or ethical reasons, there are incredible resources and inspiring people everywhere! The folks at CLAWtheory have found amazing people changing the world -one kitchen at a time – and that inspired us to give a big thanks to the awesome resources, people, places, and products we’ve discovered who make veg life better. That’s how U-Turns was born.
