Take Action: Puppies Over Profits
Puppy Mills may be big business, but they aren’t good for animals or those who care for them. Two municipalities banned the sale of puppies sourced from commercial breeders in pet retail stores mill dogs in Ohio, (Toledo and Grove City, ), joining more than 175 other localities across the U.S. with similar laws. However, Ohioans now face serious pushback with SB 331 / HB 573. The misleading bills are carefully worded to sound like they support “responsible pet store regulation,” but the legislation would allow puppy mill puppies to be sold in pet stores in Ohio. Help stop the lawmakers in Ohio who are attempting to push through this new pro-puppy mill legislation.
Don’t let legislators and large commercial pet retail chains undo these city ordinances and prevent other cities from banning the retail sale of puppy mill dogs! They are out to weaken Ohio’s standards against greedy breeders. Please speak up today and protect people and animals from greedy commercial breeders by contacting your state representatives – Urge them to oppose SB 331/ HB 573! These weakened standards are bad for animals and let’s make sure they know that’s bad for business, too.
Find your representative! Please call your state representatives today and urge them to oppose S.B. 331/H.B. 573. Let’s make sure Ohio towns can continue to keep puppy mill puppies out of pet stores.
